Bio: Jeremy is a master storyteller and has a deep loathing
of all human life, so he naturally became the group's game
master. He has also demonstrated knowledge of chemistry,
advanced theoretical physics and electrical engineering. He
speaks three real languages and four fictional ones. In high
school he designed and built a spatial warp generator capable of
creating extra-dimensional "pockets" of space. A miniature
version of this device now expands the pockets of his trench
coats. He has been friends with Alex since childhood and the two
shared an apartment in college, but lost touch when Alex joined
the army. Jeremy tends to dominate situations with his wit and
sheer force of personality, naturally gravitating to leadership
roles, but has carefully avoided taking on real responsibility
whenever possible. Jeremy has no post-graduation plans at this
time.

Bio: Amy has been a science fiction fan since grade school,
but was only recently introduced to gaming. She tends to be the
most practical one of the group, which isn't saying much. She
works part-time at The Game World and is still trying to decide
on a major, though she's leaning toward English, as she plans to
be a writer. Amy is generally cheerful and compassionate,
despite Jeremy's best efforts. She hosts the group's weekly
gaming sessions at her own apartment. How a freshman managed to
get a spacious apartment near campus on the salary of a Game
World sales clerk remains one of the great mysteries about this
girl, along with why she wears her glasses so low and how on
Earth she gets her hair to do that thing. Amy had two
shoulder-consciences who would advise her in times of
indecision, but the good conscience was eaten by Grendel during a
trip to the past.

Bio: Chris's parents recognized that his towering intellect
and sensitive nature would only be trampled in a public school
environment, so he was educated mostly at home. He can recite Pi
to 88 decimal places, has memorized large passages from The
Silmarillion, and can overclock a blender if he puts his
mind to it. On the other hand, he has largely written off people
as stupid and incomprehensible. He readily takes any amount of
abuse from Jeremy, who he sees as a mature version of himself,
and looks forward to the day when the world will bow to him as
its supreme benevolent dictator.

Occupation: Freelance Mooch
Bio: Alex fancies himself a modern-day D'artagnan or De
Bergerac, but comes across as more like Don Quixote. Outgoing
and impractical in the extreme, he has flitted from one interest
to another his entire life. He is a long-time member of the
Society for Creative Anachronism, an avid table-top gamer, an
occasional poet and musician, and has trained in every form of
hand-to-hand combat he could find since he was five. He was
Jeremy's best friend since grade school, and merrily drove him
nuts as a college roommate. In college he majored in Psychology,
Philosophy, Music, Kinesiology, Anthropology, Medieval Studies,
Drama, East Asian studies and Girls before they forced him to
graduate with a degree in Liberal Arts. He joined the army after
graduation to help pay back his student loans. While there he
met and fell in love with Anna, a fellow soldier, and then lost
her tragically. He saw combat in Afghanistan and occasionally
suffers flashbacks to this time. Since arriving back at home he
is sharing a house with his sister until he can get a job and
his own apartment.

Occupation: Tempter of Souls, Game Master from Hell
Bio: Not much is known about this demon's past. He rules a
part of Hell, and has several demons in his service, most
notably Boshnah, his majordomo. He is the greatest Game Master
in his land and is responsible for organizing the Arachnacon
game-master tournament. He challenged Jeremy to a contest of
skill, with Chris's soul as the prize against limitless riches.
The demon has powerful shape-shifting abilities, sometimes
appearing with wings, or a snake's tail in place of his lower
body, and sometimes appearing in the shape of another person
entirely. Regardless of shape, however, his aura of evil is
sufficient to curdle carbonated beverages, or cause every die in
the room to roll off the table and down the heating vent.

Occupation: Squirrel, Demoness
Bio: Grendel's mother is said to be a descendant of the
biblical Cain. Her offspring ravaged Hrothgar's mead-hall until
he was slain in combat with... Chris. Jeremy found her by
accident while he, Amy and Chris were stranded in the 9th
century. Jeremy and Chris proved ineffective against her speed
and strength, but Amy struck her down from behind with
Hrothgar's sword. In the time it took Jeremy to collect her
treasure, however, she healed from her mortal wounds and
followed the three outside. In one miscalculated leap she flew
through the time-portal and arrived in the present day, some 400
feet above a parking lot. After recovering from her landing she
snuck away, not to be seen again until meeting Jeremy in the
basement of the Colorado Convention Center.
